This piece was inspired by seeing the shapes of an ear in the topography off the sea of Australia on a raised relief map. And it was inspired by Job 28 in the Bible and the human search for knowledge and God - the words 'only a rumor of it has reached our ears'. Then, as I worked on it, this majestic and mysterious figure emerged, intended to evoke Sound.

Original painting was 11 x 14 inches. Painted in Acrylics, oils, collaged pieces of topographical raised relief map (world map featuring Austrailia and New Zealand).
